Aim: To understand the history of the earth and how far apart major events happened

Method: Using the slideshow and the ratio of 12.5 million years per square of toilet paper you count each square until you get to the right time period that a major event in earths history occurred. Once you reach your event you write how many BYO (billions on years ago) it happened and what the event was.

  1. Why are there big gaps between events? Because Evolution is an extremely slow process that takes thousands of not millions of years to happen.
  2. When did humans come into existence? Homo Sapiens appeared between 200,000 to 300,000 years ag0 but did not move out of Africa until around 50,000 years ago
  3. When did the most damage occur to the earth and What caused it? The earth does have a natural climate cycle but since the industrial revolution, climate change has become much worse and the earth has on average been getting warmer. This is due to the mass burning of fossils fuels that happened during 1760 – 1840.
  4. Do humans have the right to destroy the earth? I personally do not think that humans have the right to destroy the earth. It would kill many other species other than our own and there is no planet b.
